Video Tutorial Create Checklist on Google Sheet
Checkboxes are useful for all types of situations, even for the data you add to Google Sheet. On Google Sheet, you can add checkboxes such as project tasks, answers to questions or selecting product features.
Checkboxes on Google Sheet are flexible. You can use them to collect yes or no data, but you can also use data validation to allocate custom values. This can be useful if you want to use conditional formatting for data display in a specific way. For example, you can adjust the conditional formatting to display the selected checkboxes in green and the selected checkboxes red.
Here, we will show you how to enter a checkbox in Google Sheets and assign custom values.
How to insert checkbox in Google Sheets
Open Google Sheets, log in and open the tab you want to use. Select the cell you want to put in the checkbox. Then click Insert> Checkbox from the menu.
Click checkbox
And you go; Your checkbox is ready to check in the cell you have chosen!

You can use Fill Handle to add several checkboxes to adjacent cells. Place Fill Handle in the first cell and then pull it down or right. Checkboxes are automatically added to the remaining cells.
To copy the selection box, pull the handle full
To remove the staff you no longer need, just select the cell and press Delete on your keyboard.
Add custom values to a checkbox
As mentioned earlier, you can assign custom values to your checkboxes. To do this, right -click the cell containing the checkbox and select “Data Validation”.
Right -click and select Data Validation
When the window appears, select “Checkbox” in the Criteria drop -down box.
Choose the checkbox
Then, mark the “Use Custom Cell Values” box. Then enter the checked and unchecked values. Click “Save”.
Add custom values
Now if you want to use values for something else in your sheet, such as the conditional format mentioned earlier, you will have some values to work with your marked and asymptomatic box.
If you want to add checkboxes to the adjacent cells using the same custom values, add the values to the first checkbox, then use the full handbox to pull the checkbox in the remaining cells.
Remove custom values from a checkbox
If you decide later that you do not want the custom values you have assigned, it is easy to delete them. Right -click the cell containing the checkbox and select “Data Validation” just like when you add the values.
Delete custom values
Tick the Use Custom Cell Values option and click “Save”. This allows you to keep your checkbox, but simply delete the assigned values.
